- LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy consultation opens
- Community invited to have their say to shape WA's first LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy
- Range of opportunities to participate both online and in person
Youth Minister Hannah Beazley has marked the opening of community consultation for Western Australia's first Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer and Asexual Plus (LGBTIQA+) Inclusion Strategy at today's Pride WA Fairday.
The consultation includes a range of opportunities for people to participate both online and in person.
The Department of Communities (Communities) is seeking input and feedback from LGBTIQA+ Western Australians and other community members, including people connected to LGBTIQA+ communities, such as family members, friends, health professionals and educators to inform the strategy.
The consultation and design of the strategy is being supported by representatives from the LGBTIQA+ sector and community including:
- WA's LGBTIQA+ peak body, Rainbow Futures WA;
- GLBTI Rights in Ageing (GRAI);
- Living Proud;
- TransFolk of WA; and
- the LGBTIQA+ Strategy Reference Group, co-chaired by Communities and Rainbow Futures WA, with representatives from the LGBTIQA+ community and sector organisations.
The strategy will identify priority areas and associated actions to create a more inclusive WA, and promote the wellbeing and social and economic participation of people who are LGBTIQA+.

"Consultation is so important in ensuring the strategy reflects the lived experiences, diversity and views of LGBTIQA+ Western Australians.
"The feedback will inform priority areas for the strategy to help build an inclusive WA for LGBTIQA+ people and communities to thrive and succeed."
