Western Australia's economy under WA Labor continues to lead the nation with employment and population growth, according to the latest Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data.
Employment in WA grew in February by over 5,000 people, the only state to record increased employment in that time.
It means a record 1.64 million Western Australians are employed, taking the total number of jobs created under WA Labor since 2017 to over 345,000.
WA's unemployment rate fell to 3.4 per cent in February, down from 3.6 per cent in January, the lowest of the states and well below the national rate of 4.1 per cent.
Western Australia's unemployment rate has now been at or below 4 per cent for 39 of the past 41 months, the longest period of sustained unemployment in the 46 years of ABS reported data.
WA's strong economy and jobs market continues to attract more people from interstate and overseas, as it again recorded the strongest population growth in the nation.
In the year to September 2024, WA's population increased by 2.5 per cent, or around 72,600 people.
As stated by Treasurer Rita Saffioti:
"Another month and another record for the Western Australian job market and our economy.
"More and more people from interstate and overseas want to work and live here in WA, and it's not hard to see why.
"We continue to outperform the rest of the country with a record number of Western Australians in jobs, historically low unemployment for over three years now and massive population growth.
"WA continues to have the strongest domestic economy in the nation and keeping it that way continues to be a key priority for our WA Labor Government."
