The Western Australia: US Connect delegation will meet with stakeholders and investors in New York, Providence, Houston, and Austin.
The mission aims to strengthen Government and industry relations with the United States across a range of priority sectors, and build greater awareness of the State's industry capabilities, as well as strengthen our position as global leader in energy transition.
Minister Dawson will officially open the new Invest and Trade WA Americas Hub in Austin, Texas.
There are around 33 WA delegates travelling during the trade and investment mission, and they will be representing different sectors - including energy transition; advanced technology and innovation; health and medical life sciences; creative and cultural industries; and First Nations entrepreneurship.
The Cook Government is committed to supporting and driving innovation across a range of sectors through a range of programs, including the $1.8 billion Future Health Research and Innovation Fund, as well as the Investment Attraction Fund.
As part of the mission, WA will be showcased at several key engagements including the SXSW EDU Conference and Festival (SXSW EDU) in Austin - the world's biggest conference celebrating the convergence of technology, film, music, education, and culture.
Supported by the Cook Government, WA's Aboriginal hip hop artists Inkabee, and Flewnt will perform at the SXSW EDU, while First Nations fashion brand Kirrikin, will be on display as Western Australia takes centre stage at the Opening Night of Australia House.
As stated by Assisting the Minister for State and Industry Development, Jobs and Trade Minister Stephen Dawson:
"Western Australia and the United States enjoy a longstanding relationship, and this trade mission is a key opportunity to foster further business opportunities and partnerships.
"The US is our sixth largest trading partner with approximately $9.2 billion in total trade in 2022-23, so it is important we continue to grow and diversify this strong commercial alliance.
"The US Connect mission will provide an important opportunity to engage with high level stakeholders and investors in the energy transition, green technologies, and health and medical life sciences sectors to progress investment and trade opportunities forWestern Australia.
"Much like Texas, our State is a global-scale exporter, and ready for more investment opportunities in different sectors.
"With our shared strategic interests, complementary economies, and strong people-to-people links, there are significant prospects to be had for Western Australia.
"The Americas Hub is the sixth hub in the Invest and Trade WA Global Network - having this presence in a priority market will no doubt prove invaluable to deepen future ties."
