- Perth announced as host city for major emergency services conference in 2025
- Thousands of visitors expected to travel from interstate and overseas
- Event to include demonstrations and international keynote speakers
Australasia's leading emergency services conference will return to Western Australia after seven years with Perth being announced as the host for the 2025 Australasian Fire and Emergency Services Authorities Council (AFAC) event.
Emergency Services Minister Stephen Dawson said it was a coup for the State with the annual four-day conference and exhibition set to attract thousands of people from across the sector, including some of the world's top industry experts.
Agency leaders from each state and territory will take to the stage to share knowledge and the latest best practice in emergency management, providing invaluable insights from around the country on how to build safer communities.
Co-hosted by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) and Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), AFAC25 will be held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 26-29 August.
The theme for AFAC25 is 'From local to global: leveraging systems, capability and connection'.

As stated by Emergency Services Minister Stephen Dawson:
"To host AFAC25 in our State is a fantastic opportunity to showcase WA and to network, share ideas, acquire new skills and to learn about how to build safer and more resilient communities in the future.
"Our world is constantly changing through climatic conditions and it's imperative to have an inclusive and collaborative approach on what works now and how we can adapt and change to improve our preparedness and response.
"Technology and artificial intelligence have also advanced significantly in recent years, so AFAC25 will be a great opportunity to hear about emergency management innovations being implemented in other jurisdictions.
"Having also secured hosting rights to the World Police and Fire Games in 2027, this will be another tremendous opportunity to profile WA's expertise in emergency management."
As stated by Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Darren Klemm AFSM:
"Western Australia's last AFAC event in 2018 was a great success and it gave both emergency services professionals and volunteers a platform to be part of conversations that drive change for the future.
"Emergency services around the world continue to be challenged by ever changing climatic conditions and presented with new opportunities in the digital age.
"Collaboration and knowledge sharing across our industry is essential to our mission of keeping communities safe.
"This knowledge sharing through workshops and presentations is a critical step in developing comprehensive and strategic planning for the challenges that lie ahead."
