The local community's generous response to the 2024 Library Christmas Food Appeal saw 300 hampers of non-perishable food items and toiletries distributed to local families in need.
For more than 16 years, residents have donated to the annual Appeal helping families experiencing difficulties over Christmas and the new year.
Council's Manager Library Services Christine Bolton said the community's response to the Appeal, which wrapped up on Friday 10 January, was heartwarming.
"This year we partnered with Argyle Housing and a variety of local organisations and businesses, with items being distributed through suburban community centres located in Ashmont, Kooringal and Tolland ," Ms Bolton said.
"We are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported the appeal and donated over the Christmas and New Year period."
"The Wagga Wagga City Library is proud to support our local community in collaboration with other agencies participating in this initiative including Mission Australia, Riverina Medical, Anglicare, Youth Justice NSW and Homes NSW."
Council's Youth Development Officer Melissa Fattore said distributing the hampers from the suburban community centres meant that households in Tolland, Kooringal and Ashmont could access this support directly in their neighbourhood.
"As a result, they did not have to rely on a car or other transport to access this service" Ms Fattore said.
"The hampers made a real difference for those families who received them."
