Wakool - Chester Street Intersection Upgrade

Murray River Council

Murray River Council will be undertaking works to the intersection of Wakool and Chester Streets in Barham from18 November.

The project will see the delivery of a clearly defined intersection, along with the installation of a traffic island to establish lane separation.

The works will also see improvements to the stormwater drainage at the intersection.

Council's Director Infrastructure, Jack Bond is encouraging motorists to take care when approaching the immediate works zone.

"There will be some interruptions to traffic flow during the construction phase, with diversions in place. We remind motorists to drive slowly and follow all signage."

"Additionally, there may be times when driveways within the works area become temporarily inaccessible, so residents within the construction zone are encouraged to park their vehicles outside the immediate works area during this period."

Households in the immediate works area, along with those adjacent to the site, will have been notified of the works via letter drop.

Residents adjacent to the construction area are advised to be aware of additional cars parked in the streets and additional traffic movements during the works period.

Motorist are encouraged to access Frank St via Nicolls St as Frank St via Wakool St may have delays.

Council anticipates the works will be completed before the end of the year, weather dependent.

The project is being delivered thanks to funding under the Roads to Recovery Program.
