Journalists who have reported on violence against women in the last year are strongly encouraged to submit entries for the Walkley Foundation's Our Watch Award for Excellence in Reporting on Violence Against Women as part of the Walkley Foundation's Mid-Year Celebration of Journalism.
The category is sponsored by Our Watch, Australia's leading organisation for the primary prevention of violence against women, and administered by the Walkley Foundation.
It recognises the importance of accurate and sensitive reporting in raising awareness of the drivers of the crisis in gendered violence.
Previous winners include Julia Baird, Richard Willingham, Nina Funnell, founder of the #LetHerSpeak campaign and Samantha Maiden for her reports on Brittany Higgins rape allegations.
The Our Watch Award is open to an individual, team or news organisation whose work has highlighted the drivers of gendered violence and the way these intersect with other forms of discrimination and abuse faced by women and children.
Stories published between 16 April 2024 and 14 April 2025 are eligible.
