Rockhampton Regional Council has announced local charity Walk'n'Talk Collective will be the beneficiary of this year's Carols by Candlelight concerts.

The organisation is a Rockhampton community-based charity, established in June 2023 through a desire to help break down the barriers associated with mental illness particularly among adolescent males and adults and to foster community wellbeing.

Rockhampton Regional Council Acting Mayor Cr Drew Wickerson said:

"Over the years Rockhampton Carols by Candlelight has supported a great many local charities and we are pleased to announce that proceeds from ticket sales and donations at Carols by Candlelight 2024 will go to Walk'n'Talk Collective.

"Walk'n'Talk Collective's vision statement sums them up perfectly: 'Breaking down barriers and building up lives',' Cr Wickerson said.

"They do this by providing a variety of services, but their key project is the development of a community hub for mental health support specifically for adolescent males and adults," he said.

"Money raised through Carols by Candlelight will go towards this community hub," Cr Wickerson said.

Chris Bennett, Co-founder / Secretary of Walk 'n' Talk Collective said:

"At Walk'n'Talk Collective, we believe in the power of community to heal, support, and uplift. Our focus on mental health awareness and support fosters a safe space for connection, understanding, and growth. Together, we're creating a pathway to wellness, one step at a time."

"We're very pleased to be this year's charity recipient for Rockhampton Carols by Candlelight. We greatly appreciate the community's support to reach our goal," Chris said.

Rockhampton Carols by Candlelight will be held at the Pilbeam Theatre on two nights – Friday 13 December and Saturday December 14 at 6.30pm. Adults $12, Concessions $8, Children $8. Proceeds from ticket sales and donations go to this year's nominated charity, Walk'n'Talk Collective.
