The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety is home to a wealth of geoscience data. The Geoscience Data Transformation Program (GDTP) is a department initiative working to transform, rationalise, and modernise geoscience data held by the Geological Survey of Western Australia.
The department has responded to stakeholder requests for easier and faster access to Western Australian mineral exploration reports via WAMEX.
Numerous system updates have been implemented to deliver on these requests.
Data access has been improved through an intuitive user-interface. This means that users can instantly download large datasets directly from WAMEX, replacing the need to submit a request.
WAMEX now features a central dashboard to find reports, data, spatial map searching, applications for combined reporting, and online form lodgement.
It has also been integrated with cloud-based storage, meaning previously unavailable larger datasets will soon be available for download.
As reports and data are released into WAMEX by DEMIRS, users will be able to access them immediately. This real-time availability was not previously possible.
A quick reference guide is available to help familiarise users with the new functionality.
The changes made by the GDTP will benefit DEMIRS and all external customers, while increasing the attractiveness of exploration within the State.
