Wandong Public Art Project

The Council is thrilled to announce that a stunning new public artwork is coming soon to Lions Memorial Park, right next to the Wandong Railway carpark on Epping-Kilmore Road.

After receiving 13 outstanding applications, the selection panel chose a piece that truly captured the contemporary spirit, history, and identity of the township.

Introducing artist Tai Snaith and her captivating work, "Train of Resilience." Tai, who has deep roots in the area with family in Clonbinane, is also celebrated for her contributions to the Art on the Great Victorian Rail Trail (GVRT).

The artwork highlights the resilience of the community and native wildlife in the face of natural disasters while paying homage to the vital role of railways and the cherished natural environment.

Tai has begun work on three adorable echidnas, which will line up nose-to-tail to form the "Train of Resilience." Each echidna will be crafted in a unique material: bronze, cement and timber.

Check out Tai's previous work including "Memory Palace 1 & 2" in Merton as part of the Art on the Great Victoria Rail Trail and learn more about her work at www.taisnaith.com

Stay tuned for the big reveal in Autumn this year - a moment to celebrate our shared history and community spirit!
