A wanted man has been arrested and charged after police located a replica pistol and a knife inside a vehicle on the state's far north coast.
About 10.40pm yesterday (Thursday 10 September 2020), officers from Tweed/Byron Police District were conducting patrols of the Razorback Lookout area at Tweed Heads, when they observed a 36-year-old man in a vehicle who was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.
Police approached the vehicle and spoke with the man, before a search was conducted.
During the search, officers located and seized a replica glock pistol, a knife and methylamphetamine.
The 36-year-old man was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station.
He was charged with six offences, including drive motor vehicle whilst disqualified, possess unregistered unauthorised pistol in public place, not keep firearm safely, custody of knife in public place and possess prohibited drug, along with the outstanding arrest warrant.
He was refused bail to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court today (Friday 11 September 2020), where he was formally bail refused to reappear at the same court on Monday 2 November 2020.
