Repairs to the flood-damaged Wardell Wharf will commence Thursday 15 February 2024.
Council has engaged contractor, Hunter Wharf and Barge, to carry out the remediation works, which will include:
• Repairs to the damaged wharf and boardwalk piles
• Installation of armouring along the riverbank near Wardell Wharf.
As part of the works, two temporary piles will be installed in front of the existing jetty on Byron Street (south side) so that a barge can be used to transport rocks to the north side of the riverbank for the rock revetment works.
The boat ramp will be operational during the works, however, expect delays due to the contractor using the ramp for deliveries.
The works are expected to be completed by April 2024, weather and site conditions permitting.
The total project cost is $1.53million, with Council receiving $1.03 million in funding through the NSW Government's Natural Disaster Relief Assistance Program to complete these repairs.
