A 22-year-old Warrane man has been charged with a number of offences including motor vehicle stealing after a series of motorcycle thefts over the past two weeks.
Police will allege the man has been arranging to test drive the vehicles that have been listed for sale via online marketplaces and hasn't returned them to their owner.
When selling motor vehicles Tasmanians are urged to exercise caution and consider:
- Requesting identification and contact information and consider conducting a background check, if possible.
- Accompanying the potential buyer on test drives to monitor the motor vehicle.
- Installing a GPS tracking device to aid in recovery if stolen.
- Using high-quality locks and chains to deter theft when your motorcycle is parked.
If you have any information regarding motorcycle thefts or suspicious activity, please contact Tasmania Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers Tasmania on 1800 333 000 or via crimestopperstas.com.au.
