Warrawong Man Faces 17 Drug, Firearm Charges

A man has been charged with drug and firearm offences in the Illawarra.

About 5pm, yesterday (Wednesday 4 September 2024), officers attached to the Southern Operations Group executed a search warrant at a home in Greene Street Warrawong.

A sawn-off shotgun, air rifle, ammunition, a loaded cross bow, a sling shot with a scope, a butterfly knife, zombie knife, cannabis, MDMA and prescription medication were seized.

A 30-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station.

He was charged with 17 offences,

- possess unauthorised firearm

- not keep firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited firearm (2 counts)

- possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (4 counts)

- custody of knife in a public place

- possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority

- possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority

- possess prohibited drug (4 counts)

- drive while licence cancelled

- use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle

- use registrable vehicle not display authorised number plates

He appeared before Wollongong Local Court today (Thursday 5 September 2024) and was refused bail to reappear at the same court on Wednesday 25 September 2024.
