Warwick Teacher Centre Rated Outstanding By Ofsted

The University of Warwick's Centre for Teacher Education (CTE) has received an 'Outstanding' rating in a recent Ofsted inspection, recognising the high quality of training and support provided to its teaching trainees.

The report praised the Centre for its excellence in preparing trainees for successful, long-term careers in education, with inspectors highlighting the strong support systems and comprehensive training that underpin its success.

Ofsted complimented the Centre for seamlessly blending academic learning with school placements, giving trainees the theoretical knowledge and practical experience needed to succeed.

The report highlighted that CTE's approach provides exceptional support and guidance, helping trainees become the "best teacher they can be."

The Centre's core values of social justice, creativity, and intellectual curiosity were also recognised as key strengths. Ofsted noted that these values are embedded throughout the curriculum and are consistently reflected in the classroom practices of trainees.

The report also highlighted the University's strong commitment to pastoral care, noting that trainees benefit from a "multi-layered menu of pastoral support" designed to help them manage the demands of the course.

This support, coupled with high-quality teaching and a focus on adaptive methods for diverse learners, prepares trainees to teach effectively across different educational phases and meet the needs of all pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Dr Andy Hind, Head of the Centre for Teacher Education, expressed his pride in the Ofsted outcome:

"I am delighted to be able to share the outcome of our PGCE provision's recent inspection by Ofsted. Beyond the excellent overall judgement, it is fantastic to see the relentless work of the team in CTE recognised by the inspectors for the value it brings to PGCE students at Warwick and more importantly, through our strong partnership, to schools and children in the region.

"The team at CTE is proud of their work and it is brilliant to see that recognised in this report."
