Waste Bin Roll Out Underway: Bayside

Bayside Council's bin replacement program is underway with new bins currently being delivered to residents across Bayside.

The replacement process commenced this week with apartments and multi-dwelling units the first to receive their fresh bins.

The program is part of routine replacement processes to ensure bins are appropriately & consistently sized, accurately allocated and to reduce repair and maintenance costs for Council.

The new bins are the standard size of 240L and made of up to 80 per cent recycled materials.

The bins also feature technology in the form of an RFID chip, used by many councils, to allow efficient management of Council's waste collection services.

The RFID tags assist council by providing the location of the bin through sensors on the collection vehicle or by Council's handheld device, and by recording whether a bin has been collected, helping to enhance services provided to residents.

The tags do not provide real-time tracking data or store any personal data.

New green-lidded bins, distributed recently as part of the garden organics program, will not be replaced.

As part of enhancements to Council's waste service, bin collection days may change for some residents from Monday 3 March 2025.

Residents can view their collection dates for all waste services on the Bayside Waste Services App, Bayside Council website, or contact Council via 1300 581 299 for assistance.

Please ensure you have updated your app to the latest version to see the 2025 dates.
