Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos, said the Waverley Youth Art Prize was one of the most important youth events on the Waverley cultural calendar.
"After the year that was 2020, I couldn't think of a better theme for this year's prize and the artworks we received and are on exhibition at Waverley Library until 27 July are an incredible survey of what family means to our young artists," Mayor Masselos said.
"For many of our artists, the Youth Art Prize is their first public exhibition, and may form part of a future professional career.
The 2021 Waverley Youth Art Prize was judged by artists Julia Gutman and Laura Jade who are both current artists in the Waverley Artist Studios. Mayor Masselos judged the Mayor's Prize.
This year's winners receive a range of art packs full of creative materials to help with their future masterpieces, while the Senior Category winner receives a weeks' attendance at Sydney's National Art School.
