The winners of the Way Out West photography competition have been revealed, with five talented young photographers being recognised.
Tarneit local, Sagalee Oma, has taken out the 2023 Way Out West photography competition Grand Prize award of $500 with a captivating image titled 'Everything everywhere all at once'. Photography is a creative outlet for Sagalee and he is overjoyed to be the winner of the Grand Prize.
Wyndham City's Creative City Portfolio Holder, Cr Marcel Mahfoud, congratulated all of the winners of the Way Out West Photography competition and expressed his admiration for all the entrants.
"Now in its eighth year, this annual competition just gets better and better. The outstanding talent that our young photographers have is inspiring and showcases their wonderful creative ability."
"To see the level of skill and technical ability shown in some of the entries is really marvellous."
"The young people who call Wyndham home never cease to amaze me with how creative and brilliant they are. The entrants in this year's competition are testament to this."
The other winners of the 2023 Way Out West photography competition were awarded $100 and a framed copy of their winning photo:

• Best Black and White Image: The Cry of an Elephant by Vawser Riley
• Best Use of Colour: Echidna chasm - Purnululu by Tabart Lucinda
• Best Portrait Winner: Self Portrait by Tibayan Aremel
This year's competition attracted 127 entries.
Wyndham City's Learning City portfolio holder Cr Jasmine Hill said: "The Way Out West photography exhibition is a positive way for young people to express themselves, show their creative talents, build confidence as well as share their ideas and perspectives of living in the West."
"The Way Out West Photography Exhibition displays all entries and provides a platform for young people to showcase and celebrate their artistic and creative talents."
"It is now on display at the Point Cook Library and will be moving to Julia Gillard Library Tarneit next week from Tuesday 1 August 2023. The display will then move to a number of community spaces including, Arndell Park Community Centre, Saltwater Community Centre, Dianella Community Centre, Manor Lakes Library and the Youth Resource Centre. The exhibition will be on display for three weeks at each location."
All entries will feature in the published annual Way Out West Photobook, which will be available to view and borrow at your local Wyndham Library and the Youth Resource Centre.
