A 27-year-old woman has been caught allegedly three times over the limit in Wallan last night.
Police initially observed a Mercedes in a service station car park about 1.30am and after conducting checks on the car, found that the vehicle was unregistered.
Officers spoke to the driver, who smelt strongly of alcohol, and observed an unrestrained toddler in a car seat which was also not fitted to the vehicle.
The woman accompanied police for an evidentiary breath test where she returned an alleged reading of 0.155, more than three times the legal limit.
The woman had her car impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1200, and her licence immediately suspended for a period of 12 months.
She is expected to be charged on summons with traffic offences.
This impound forms part of Operation Tribute. A statewide road policing operation targeting impaired driving, speed, distraction, fatigue and seatbelt non-compliance in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria, in an effort to drive down road trauma.
Operation Tribute runs until 11:59pm Sunday 28 April.
