Our scientists are taking their research out of the lab and into Durham City in May as part of the international Pint of Science festival.
The annual festival, which runs from May 22 to 24, gives people the chance to learn about and discuss scientific topics with local experts in their field.
Talking science
Over the course of the three-day festival, our academics will give talks at four Durham City venues: The Garden House, Head of Steam, The Dun Cow and Durham Amateur Rowing Club.
The events run from 7.30pm to 9.30pm every night of the festival and each venue has a theme focusing on a different area of science such as biology, geography and astrophysics.
The talks will cover subjects as diverse as how kindness can help combat procrastination, to the dynamics of the Greenland ice sheets and medieval manuscript analysis.
Our academics will also be joined by an expert from the NHS and Northumbria University who will deliver talks during the festival.
Pint of Science festival
The festival was founded in 2013 with just three cities taking part and now hundreds of Pint of Science events are staged each May in the UK and beyond.
The Pint of Science talks cost £5 to attend and tickets are available from Monday, 17 April at pintofscience.co.uk/events/durham.
