Weapons Charges, Oxenford

Officers from the Gold Coast West Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a 23-year-old Waterford West man following a shooting incident in Oxenford yesterday, June 26.

It will be alleged around 4.15am, two people attended a Lister Street residence and smashed a window with a golf club.

They fled the scene after neighbouring residents came outside and chased them away.

A short time later, a bullet was allegedly discharged into the front glass window of the neighbouring home.

No one was physically injured.

Following extensive investigations, the 23-year-old man was located in Manly West this afternoon and arrested.

He has been charged with one count each of dangerous conduct with a weapon, extortion with intent to gain benefit, attempted enter dwelling with intent at night threatens violence whilst armed, wilful damage and attempted enter dwelling with intent by break at night.

His police bail was refused and he is due before Cleveland Magistrates Court tomorrow, June 28.

Investigations are continuing.
