Weapons Seizure At Yorketown

Yorketown police seized a large cache of munitions at a York Peninsula property last week.

About 2.20pm on Thursday 9 May, police with the assistance of the Bomb Operations Unit attended an address in Yorketown to conduct a search under the Firearms Act.

As a result of the search police located and seized over 4000 rounds of ammunition, a semi-automatic rifle, crossbow, and an inert explosive. Police also located and seized a small amount of cannabis.

A 50-year-old local man was reported for possession of insecure, unregistered, unlicensed C Class firearm, prohibited item, insecure ammunition. He was also issued a cannabis expiation notice.
