Detectives from the Moreland Crime Investigation Unit have charged a man after gift cards, jewellery and approximately $16,000 in cash was stolen from a number of wedding receptions in Melbourne.
The man allegedly pretended to be a wedding guest while entering eight venues hosting wedding receptions in Brunswick, Fitzroy, Brunswick East, Ripponlea, and Hawthorn between 2 April and 22 May.
A total of approximately $16,000 cash, jewellery and gift cards were allegedly stolen from three of the venues.
Detectives executed a search warrant at an address in Carlton yesterday and arrested a man.
Jewellery and gift cards were located at the property.
The 24-year-old Carlton man has been charged with 27 charges, including aggravated burglary, burglary, theft and going equipped to steal.
He's been bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 18 October.
