Nationals Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke, has joined in the celebrations at the Weethalle Showground, marking a hundred years since the small town was established.
Ms Cooke opened the event, crowning parade winners with ribbons, and enjoying food generously prepared by the Local Lions Club.
She said the event was testament to the strong community connection in the region.
"Organising a town-wide celebration like this takes the work of many, and I would like to acknowledge the leadership of Weethalle Celebration Committee Secretaries Tanya Jolly and Eliza Spaul for helping bring this wonderful event to life," Ms Cooke said.
"The West Wyalong Advocate described Weethalle in 1928 as a town which "sprung up in the night," with "everything in the sporting line except a golf club" to service and entertain residents. Now, this remarkable town does indeed have golf club of its own; the Weethalle Country Club. As Member for Cootamundra, the seat of towns and villages, it's a joy to celebrate our towns that keep evolving and growing with our communities."
The Weethalle Showground received $69,066 in 2021-22 in grant funding to support the maintenance of the site, to support many more celebrations to come.
