Wellington Street Upgrade Progressing In Wallan

Works are progressing on the Wellington Street upgrade between Watson and Duke Street, with several key elements now completed and more improvements on the way.

This $3 million upgrade aims to enhance road safety, accessibility, and connectivity for the Wallan community by delivering essential infrastructure improvements, including asphalt road surfacing, on-street parking, and raised pedestrian crossings. The project also includes intersection upgrades with underground drainage, new street lighting, kerb and channel works, and improved road signage.

As of Thursday 20 February, the following works have been completed:

  • Drainage
  • Footpaths
  • Kerbs

Still to come:

  • Final asphalt layer
  • Line marking
  • Street lighting

Once completed, the upgrade will provide safer pedestrian and road user access, including a new shared-user path to support active commuting options for the broader community.

This project is part of the Australian Government's $11 million investment in the Macedon and Mitchell Shire Roads initiative, with $5.5 million allocated to the Wellington Street and upcoming Darraweit Road upgrades. Mitchell Shire Council has also contributed $200,000 towards these vital works.

Visit the project page and stay tuned for further updates as we approach the project's expected completion in June 2025.
