Stage 4 of Welsford Street Redevelopment continues to progress, with works on the northern side of Fryers Street commencing next week.
The exit from the Causeway (Midland Highway) onto Marungi Street will be closed to motorists from Monday 9 January, 2023 until works are completed. Those travelling in the area are advised to follow the traffic management and detour signage in place.
Road users are reminded that Watt Road is now open and to consider alternate routes where appropriate to avoid delays.
The Welsford Street Off-Street Carpark (opposite the Council offices) will be closed from Thursday 12 January through to Wednesday 25 January, 2023 and again from Monday 20 February through to Friday 24 February, 2023. This is to allow the carpark entry and exit to be upgraded.
Drivers will not be able to access the businesses through the usual rear entry from the Welsford Street carpark however access will be maintained via Wyndham Street.
There will be some disruptions in the area during the works and Council thanks everyone for their patience and cooperation during the works.
Completion of Stage 4 works is anticipated in March, 2023.
