West Coast Eagles' Elliot Yeo visited RSPCA WA on Wednesday to make some very special deliveries in the lead up to Christmas!
Doing his best Santa Paws impression, the footballer and RSPCA WA ambassador wrapped up and delivered goodies to the animals who won't have a home to call their own on Christmas Day.
Gordon the four-month-old Irish wolfhound mix puppy, Gomez the one-year-old rabbit, and a few litters of kittens eagerly accepted early gifts from Yeo on Wednesday.
RSPCA WA is expecting more than 400 animals to come into care over the Christmas period, a massive number that will stretch the resources of the animal welfare charity.
Spokesperson Lou Rowe said they rely on generous donations for 80 per cent of costs to care for the sick, injured and abandoned animals they receive.
"It's been a tough year for us at RSPCA WA and we are desperate for Guardian Angels like Elliot to step up and help an innocent animal this Christmas," she said.
"We know not all the animals in our care will find a home for Christmas but we're asking for people to please donate to ensure we can give them the treatment and care they need – as well as a little something special on Christmas morning."
Yeo said it was sad to think of the poor animals who won't have families to wake up to like his own pups Winston and Pippa.
"Whether they are here because they just haven't found their perfect match yet or they are still undergoing vet care and have to stay here over the
Christmas period, I want them all to at least have a present on the day," he said.
"The RSPCA is preparing for an inevitable influx of animals as it begins to heat up and requires all the extra support it can get.
"You can help by becoming a Guardian Angel to an animal in need this Christmas.
"Your donation will help to cover the costs of vet care for the expected 400 animals to come into care here over the festive period."
