Farmers are invited to a 'Looking after your livestock, looking after you' workshop at Apsley Town Hall this month.
Agriculture Victoria Grains Southwest Regional Manager Felicity Pritchard said the enduring dry conditions were making it challenging for many farmers in the region.
'In drier seasons farmers tend to prioritise the condition of their animals over their own wellbeing, so we are offering an expert-led workshop to help put some balance back into this situation,' Ms Pritchard said.
Workshop presenters Dr Jane Gaussen and Dr Julie Rowse operate in western Victoria and have an intimate understanding of what farmers are facing currently.
Dr Jane Gaussen from The Livestock Vet is a veterinarian and regular speaker at livestock events. Dr Gaussen will cover animal health management and disease prevention, minimising livestock stress to maximise outcomes and optimising animal performance.
Dr Julie Rowse from Healthy Mind and Soul is an occupational therapist who provides services and training to help attain positive mental health. She will discuss the importance of caring for your mental health, the 'Stress Bucket', simple and practical mental health strategies and a plan to thrive.
