WA Health is reporting no new COVID-19 cases since two community cases of COVID-19 were announced yesterday.
Case 1023 is a woman in her 30s who attended the Mobius Health & Performance gym in Joondalup on Thursday, 24 June 2021.
Case 1024 is a man in his 20s who attended The Indian Ocean Brewing Co. in Mindarie on Tuesday, 22 June 2021.
Both are quarantining at home.
Contact tracing is in progress with initial public exposure sites available on the HealthyWA website.
The cases are close contacts of Case 1022, a female in her 50s, who returned to Perth from New South Wales on 20 June. She followed public health advice and was tested for COVID-19 on her return, receiving a negative test result on Monday, 21 June.
On Saturday, 26 June, after realising that a place she had visited in New South Wales had been recently added to the list of NSW exposure sites, she presented for another COVID test, which returned a positive result.
Both she and her partner, who had previously tested negative, remain in isolation.
Case summaries
- Case 1022: confirmed as having the Delta variant – 98 of her 155 close contacts and 275 of her 1043 casual contacts have tested negative to the virus.
- Case 1023: confirmed as having the Delta variant – 9 of her 49 close contacts have tested negative. Results pending for 76 casual contacts.
- Case 1024: 2 of his 5 close contacts have tested negative. Results pending for 709 casual contacts.
Connolly Primary School, Koondoola Primary School and Burbridge School remain closed.
WA Health is monitoring five active COVID-19 cases (including two cases in hotel quarantine) – 1010 people have recovered from the virus in WA.
Yesterday, 14,771 people were swabbed at WA Health COVID clinics and private clinics.
To date there have been 1,307,429 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 164,043 were from regional WA.
WA continues to monitor contacts of a positive COVID-19 case at the Granites gold mine in the Northern Territory.
The mine worker, from Victoria, is suspected to have been infected with the Delta variant of the virus at the Airport Novotel Langley quarantine hotel in Brisbane and was potentially infectious from 18 to 25 June.
Of his 180 close contacts, 165 have returned negative results.
New South Wales and Queensland
WA has raised the border control arrangement level with Queensland to medium, the same as NSW, in the wake of the escalating COVID-19 outbreak in that State.
All people who have arrived into WA from Queensland and New South Wales are asked to continue to monitor updated exposure sites on the Queensland Health and NSW Health websites.
New Zealand
Anyone in WA who visited the Wellington area after 18 June 2021 (even if not to a listed exposure site) should get tested if even mild symptoms develop, and self-isolate immediately until a negative test result is received.
Travellers from New Zealand should continue to monitor the New Zealand Ministry for Health site
Victoria, ACT and Northern Territory
Victoria is assessed as a low-risk location. All returning travellers are required to get tested immediately (within 48 hours of arrival in WA), self-quarantine for 14 days, and have another test on day 11 of their quarantine.
Testing clinics
Only those people, both symptomatic and asymptomatic, who have been to a listed exposure site at the dates and times indicated are required to be tested.
WA Health requests all other people who are not symptomatic to refrain from being tested, enabling priority contacts to be processed first.

Vaccination
Yesterday, 7729 people ;received a COVID vaccination, 2447 of those were second doses.

Variants
To date, 98 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 53 of the Alpha (UK variant) strain, 15 of the Beta (South African variant) strain, one of the Gamma (Brazilian variant) strain and 29 of the Delta (Indian variant) strain.
