Western Australia Covid update as at 29 August 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 982 new cases to 4pm last night. There are currently 7,517 active cases in Western Australia.

The latest figures from overnight show, there were 228 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 6 in ICU.

Sadly, today's report includes two deaths, dating back to 23 August, which were reported to WA Health yesterday – a woman in her 80s, and man in his 50s.

Of the 982 cases, 279 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 703 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 2,151 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 1,126,947 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
