Western Sydney is set to 'move it, move it' with the Australian premiere of Madagascar - The Musical bringing to life the classic DreamWorks animated movie at the Sydney Coliseum in Rooty Hill from tonight - 1 January 2023.
The NSW Government has secured the nation's first season of the international hit production, which has already performed to sold-out audiences across the UK and New Zealand.
Minister for Tourism and the Arts Ben Franklin said Madagascar - The Musical would delight Sydney audiences with major benefits for the wider visitor economy.
"I am so excited the Australian premiere of Madagascar - The Musical is about to open at the state-of-the-art Sydney Coliseum at West HQ," Mr Franklin said.
"This is a world-class production in a world-class Western Sydney venue with spectacular and colourful sets, masterful puppetry, action-packed adventure and delightful new songs that will inspire audiences to 'move it, move it' in the aisles.
"Western Sydney is going through a renaissance, building a reputation as a dynamic hub for the arts, culture and creative industries, as well as a destination for hosting major international cultural events.
"In addition to other ground-breaking cultural events secured by the NSW Government for Western Sydney this year, such as HallyuPopFest and SoundWest, Madagascar - The Musical will be a major drawcard for Western Sydney with thousands of visiting theatregoers expected to inject more than $2 million into the local economy during its two-week run.
The Australian premiere of Madagascar - The Musical is performing for a limited season at the Sydney Coliseum Theatre at West HQ in Rooty Hill from 16 December - 1 January 2023.
