Waverley Council is asking residents to hold on to unwanted items while the current stay-at-home orders are in place.
With many of us spending more time at home, it's no surprise that people have taken on cleaning or decluttering projects. However, it's important to do the right thing and dispose of items safely and legally.
We appreciate that most residents want to do the right thing and options to safely dispose of items are limited due to the current restrictions in place however, leaving items on kerbsides or outside charity shops is not the answer. It is considered illegal dumping and places an unfair financial burden on charity shops and Council.
While we've had to close our problem waste drop-off points and cancel our August problem waste drop-off event to comply with Public Health Orders, there are a few options available if you can't hold on to your unwanted items until restrictions are lifted:
- Recycle batteries and e-waste at Officeworks or batteries only at Aldi
- Take soft plastics to Coles and Woolworths for recycling
