What's On In June At National Library

National Library

Come in from the cold and warm up with a variety of conversations and lectures at the National Library this June. There will be an in-conversation event with two prominent Australian crime writers, presentations from two of our research fellows on their discoveries in our collections and a talk from demographer Dr Liz Allen.

  • The craft of crime: In conversation with Sulari Gentill and Chris Hammer

    The Friends of the National Library present two of Australia's preeminent crime writers, Sulari Gentill and Chris Hammer, in conversation with crime fiction reviewer Anna Steele.

  • Grief in World War II expressed in art and fashion with Dr Tets Kimura

    Thursday 13 June | 5.30pm to 6.30pm | Free

    Join Dr Tets Kimura as he presents a lecture on his 2023 National Library Fellowship research into how grief was experienced during the Asia-Pacific War in two different nations, Australia and Japan, and how it is identifiable in art and fashion.

  • Mining Modjeska's archive with Dr Bernadette Brennan

    Thursday 20 June | 5.30pm to 6.30pm | Free

    Dr Bernadette Brennan will present a lecture on her 2024 National Library Fellowship research into the archives of award-winning author and editor Drusilla Modjeska.

  • Winter Tales presents Dr Liz Allen

    Sunday 23 June | 2.00pm to 4.00pm | $20

    Join Dr Liz Allen as she delivers the presentation From accommodating to accommodated: How can Australia best support people from disadvantaged backgrounds? for The National Foundation for Australian Women and the Australian Women's Archives Program (AWAP).
