8. David Franz Wine, Barossa
Crafting small batch wines in the heart of the Barossa, David Franz is one of the region's best kept secrets. An 1860s cottage has been lovingly restored and turned into a quirky cellar door with epic views over the vineyards and a beautiful deck area to soak it all in, a glass of Rosé in hand. Snag a sun lounge and a bottle of the Red Rosé and settle in for the afternoon. The rich Barossa soils result in a deeply fruity Rosé reminiscent of ripe raspberries and toffee apple. On South Australia's island paradise, the summer's forecast is 99% Rosé all day. For coastal views and great wine, head for Kangaroo Island's Dudley Wines. Perched on the island's north coast just a 10 minute drive from Penneshaw, Dudley Wines is Kangaroo Island's pioneer winery. Relax for the afternoon on the deck with far-reaching views across Backstairs Passage (the section of water separating the island from the mainland) while enjoying Dudley's locally produced and award-winning wines. Crafted from specially selected Shiraz grapes with fresh flavours of red currants, peaches and summer berries, their Pink Bay Rosé was made for warm island days by the beach.
10. Ngeringa, Adelaide Hills
One of the pioneering biodynamic wineries in Australia, Ngeringa is focused on creating sustainable, ecologically minded wines. The Adelaide Hills winery sits just outside Mount Barker on a 75-hectare farm, with five hectares dedicated to vineyards. Their sustainable approach to farming and viticulture is evident as soon as you arrive with small, closely planted vines, a straw bale winery, and vineyard seamlessly entwined with the farm which is home to Scottish Highland cows, sheep and chickens, a flourishing paddock overflowing with veggies and extensive revegetation plantings. Here, you can sip wine grown, made and bottled without leaving the estate, including their crisp, savoury-leaning Rosé.
