The Global Tuberculosis Programme in collaboration with the WHO Academy is pleased to announce the launch of the e-course, Harnessing the power of routine health facility data: Tuberculosis.
The WHO e-course aims to strengthen technical capacity on the analysis and use of TB surveillance data for programme planning. The course uses adult learning principles with material consisting of theory, videos, case studies and practice exercises. A WHO Academy Award of Completion will be provided with the successful completion of each module.
"This is the first-ever e-course on TB released on the new WHO Academy platform," said Dr Tereza Kasaeva, Director of WHO's Global TB Programme. "We hope that the course will benefit millions of health workers by strengthening their capacity to close the gap between "can" and "do" in TB monitoring and service delivery."
The course has been designed for TB programme staff at all administrative units; health facility workers involved in the recording and reporting of TB data; WHO personnel; and staff of partner organisations or consultants providing technical assistance to programmes on their M&E activities. However, anyone with an interest in the topic is invited to take the course.
The WHO e-course can be accessed on the WHO Academy platform: here. WHO staff can log in with WHO identity (WIMS) and others are invited to sign-up for the WHO Academy with a valid email address to access the course.
The course is free of charge and can be followed at your own pace (approximately 5 hours of learning).
The course is currently available in English. Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish will be available by the end of 2023.
Please note that this is an early release by the WHO Academy. The Academy's platform is still in demo stage, so you may expect updates until the official launch in 2024. However, this will not affect the learning material or content.
