World Vision Australia has joined forces with Australia's favourite children's entertainers, The Wiggles, to create an exclusive song, 'Around the World', to bring hope and joy to children everywhere this Christmas.
Featuring The Wiggles' signature charm and dance moves, the song and accompanying music video, led by Yellow Wiggle Tsehay Hawkins and featuring World Vision sponsored children, aims to enable children everywhere to feel strong and proud whilst highlighting an important message about the pivotal role that food and education plays in a child's wellbeing.
While significant progress has been made when it comes to supporting the world's most vulnerable children, more needs to be done.
This year alone, World Vision reports that more than 50 million people – around half of them children – are at risk of starvation1. With food insecurity the cause of 45 percent of preventable deaths for children under five1, The Wiggles and World Vision are challenging Australians to transform 5,000 children's lives around the world this Christmas through child sponsorship.
Yellow Wiggle, Tsehay Hawkins says, "We're incredibly proud to use the power of song and dance to unite the world's children, and support World Vision and those less fortunate this Christmas.
"We've learnt so much about the missed opportunities that the world's most vulnerable children face, and by sponsoring a child through World Vision, Australians can help children everywhere have greater access to education, healthcare and life essentials like food and shelter," continues Tsehay.
World Vision Australia spokesperson, Louise Cummins added, "We believe that every child, no matter where they live, should have a joyful Christmas."
"With the growing and catastrophic global hunger crisis, now more than ever serves as an important reminder about the role we can all play in transforming children's lives through food and education programs.
"We are so excited to partner with The Wiggles to release this fun and original song and provide Australians with the opportunity to change children's lives around the world so they have an opportunity to feel strong and joyful," added Louise.
'Around the World' by The Wiggles can be found and enjoyed on The Wiggles' YouTube channel.
