Bega Valley Shire Council is holding the next Wilderness to Water guided walking tour at Lake Curalo Boardwalk on Saturday 18 February from 10am to 1.30pm.
Council's Environmental Management Officer, Erin Moon said the free tours give walkers an opportunity to discover the environmental and cultural significance of some of the shire's most beautiful trails.
"The previous events saw large crowds explore and learn about the Merimbula Boardwalk and Murunna Headland in Wallaga Lake," Ms Moon said.
"This time participants will start at Eden Scout Hall and walk along the Lake Curalo boardwalk, exploring the area north to Palestine Creek and parts of the southern side of the lake.
"They'll investigate foreshore vegetation with botanist Jackie Miles, discover estuarine processes with lake expert Nick Yee and experience an Aboriginal cultural tour with Eden Local Aboriginal Land Council.
"There will be lunchtime talks where walkers will learn about revegetation and weed programs, citizen science, threatened shorebirds, Clean Curalo waste clean-ups and the Jigamy Farm cultural garden project.
Lunch will be provided by a local caterer and there will be nature activities for the kids. This event caters for families, so bring the kids along."
The final walking tour in the series will be held in Bemboka on Saturday 18 March, with more details to come.
The Wilderness to Water walking tour series is funded by the NSW Government's Reconnecting Regional NSW Community Events Program.
