Wiley and OhioLINK Sign Agreement to Publish More Open Access Research

March 9, 2022 - Hoboken, NJ - Global research and education leader Wiley today announced a new two-year agreement with OhioLINK, a statewide academic library consortium for the State of Ohio in the U.S. This agreement builds on an open access pilot both institutions completed in 2020, and furthers their joint commitment to making more peer-reviewed research available to readers across the globe.

OhioLINK member institutions currently enjoy access to all of Wiley's journals. The upgraded Wiley agreement grants researchers the additional ability to publish eligible articles as open access in Wiley's portfolio of more than 1,400 hybrid journals. Publishing benefits for OhioLINK authors begin in March 2022 and continue through the end of 2023.

"It's a pleasure to deepen our partnership with OhioLINK at a time when open access is gaining so much momentum across the U.S.," said Liz Ferguson, Senior Vice President, Wiley Research Publishing.

"We are happy to be able to provide authors with the opportunity to extend the reach of their research through Wiley's hybrid open access journals at no additional cost to our member institutions or authors," said Amy Pawlowski, Executive Director of OhioLINK.

OhioLINK's 89 consortium members include 12 high-research institutions, as well a range of private, public, and 2-year colleges. Based on knowledge gained during the pilot with Wiley, OhioLINK was able to structure the publishing workflow to ensure that institutions will also be able to benefit from the agreement without added administrative burden.

Wiley has open access agreements with more than 25 partners globally and has signed a number of new agreements across the United States, including with the Big Ten Academic Alliance, Carolina Consortium, VIVA, and the Statewide California Electronic Library Consortium, earlier this year.
