Will Labor Present Alternative Budget?

Tasmanian Government

It's now only 22 days until Labor have their annual opportunity to present an alternative Budget.

In the ten years they have been in Opposition they have failed to deliver a single alternative Budget.

This is Josh Willie's chance to break with the record of his predecessors. Will 2024 be the year?

How will they pay for the wild ride that was their desperate $4 billion in election campaign promises?

Will they introduce new or increase taxes?

The Labor opposition admitted during the election that their costings included $2 billion in 'identified savings' - will they proceed with their proposed $200 million cuts from the health system?

Would they stand by their cuts to the infrastructure program, at a time when industry say they need a strong stable pipeline of work?

Tasmanians haven't forgotten their last budget pamphlet of despair that was retracted after a few minutes because the numbers didn't add up.

Let's hope the calculator works this time.

Meanwhile, the Tasmanian Government is getting on with the job of delivering its 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future which delivers real cost of living relief and takes action on the things Tasmanians care about like health, housing and education.
