Willaura Kerb And Channel Works Complete

Major kerb and channel works on Willaura's Walkerville and Wileman Streets are complete, with the final spray seal applied to road surfaces late last week.

The project now moves into its post-construction, site monitoring stage.

The 600 metres of new kerb and channel addresses issues of poor drainage impacting abutting properties, particularly along Wileman Street.

Council collaborated closely with GWM water during the project to facilitate the renewal of aged water mains throughout the works area, ensuring the ongoing reliability of water supply to residents along both streets.

The works are complemented by new footpaths, which were constructed in late 2024 within the same sections of the roads.

"We're very focused on maintaining the municipality's drainage network through kerb and channel works," says Ararat Rural City Council Mayor, Cr Jo Armstrong. "The condition of our drainage system impacts public safety, the protection of other infrastructure both public and private, and the preservation of our local ecosystem.

"It's an ongoing project for Council, requiring regular monitoring to ensure our roads are in the best possible condition for the members of our community who are using these assets every day."
