Willoughby City Council is proud to celebrate International Women's Day 2025 with a series of inspiring events, including a business luncheon, film screening and a walk from Council Chambers to the Dougherty Community Centre, Chatswood.
This year's theme, 'March Forward: For ALL Women and Girls', calls on the community to accelerate action towards unlocking equal rights, power, and opportunities for all, ensuring a future where no one is left behind.
On Thursday, 6 March, the community of Willoughby is invited to come together for the annual International Women's Day Walk. Beginning at 9:45 am from Willoughby City Council Chambers at 31 Victor Street, the walk will proceed along Victor Street and conclude at the Dougherty Community Centre, with a morning tea, followed by inspirational speeches and live performances celebrating unity in diversity.
Mayor Tanya Taylor expressed her enthusiasm for this year's celebration. "This year's theme is a call to action for real change," she said. "By empowering the next generation, especially young women and girls, we can build a future where equality is a reality, not just a goal. It's inspiring to see our community come together in this effort, united in our commitment to making a difference."
Willoughby City Council is committed to promoting gender equality, not just on International Women's Day, but every day of the year. By fostering inclusive conversations and empowering individuals, Council aims to accelerate progress towards a fairer future for all.
