Win For Jobs And Housing Step Closer

Tasmanian Government

The Tasmanian Government's Land Use Planning and Approvals (Development Assessment Panels) Bill 2024 has passed the House of Assembly.

The Bill will allow certain developments to be assessed by independent expert Development Assessment Panels (DAPs) established by the Tasmanian Planning Commission, improving the certainty, transparency, and the effectiveness of planning across Tasmania.

Minister for Housing, Planning and Consumer Affairs, Felix Ellis, said this was about keeping Tasmania moving forward.

"This is about job creation, making opportunity and telling Tasmanians if your proposal meets the planning rules then you should get a fair go," Minister Ellis said.

"Our DAPs will deliver more homes and be a force for positive change and progress statewide.

"We're working hard to secure better outcomes for all Tasmanians.

"Our Government will continue to back in jobs, back in opportunity and back in industry through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future."
