Jamie Durie has designed outdoor spaces for international A-listers like Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and even Oprah Winfrey. Now he's about to make garden design dreams come true for one lucky winner.
The celebrity gardener will be the special guest at Chatham Homes' 8.2 star energy-rated Blackwood display home at the Lucas estate on Sunday, September 11.
We are proud to announce that the Blackwood is the first display home by an Australian volume builder to achieve the prestigious Green Star Home certification by the Green Building Council Australia's 'As Built' category.
Visitors to the display home, which sets the benchmark in sustainable living and home design, will go in the draw to win a landscaped garden design by Jamie Durie.
The award-winning designer, passionate environmental campaigner and Chatham Homes ambassador will also be available for selfies with visitors and to take tours of the stunning four-bedroom family home.
The all-electric, solar powered home combines effortless style and smart design that promotes the health of its owners through the use of the latest wellbeing technologies, sustainable materials and smart appliances.
"I can't wait to show the locals through Australia's first Green Star home. What an achievement by my friends at Chatham Homes. This is the home Australia needs to build moving forward - a home design that is not only improving the lives of Australian families through healthy, sustainable, and innovative design, but one that also treads more lightly on the environment, with all the latest technology and luxury that one would expect from Chatham" Durie said.
"We've never needed forward-thinking home design like this more than we do today."
Durie, who has more than 40 international design awards to his name and received a Medal of the Order of Australia in 2013 for services to the environment, has teamed with Chatham Homes in a partnership focused on encouraging more sustainable, healthy and climate resilient homes.
Chatham Homes managing director Bradley Hall said Durie's passion for sustainable design and his work in the environmental sector over 29 years made him the perfect partner for the leading Victorian boutique home builder.
"Together, we want to challenge the home building industry to do more to reduce its environmental footprint and to confront the challenges of living in a changing climate," Mr Hall said.
Durie will be at the Blackwood display home at 85 Shortridge Drive, Lucas, from 1.30pm on Sunday, September 11. Visitors can register their interest to attend here.
One lucky visitor on the day will also win a garden design plan by Durie and his team. The prize does not include the execution of the design. Other terms and conditions also apply.
