Completed on time and budget – a road reconstruction project on a 300 metre stretch of Isabella Street Wingham is delivering safety improvements and a smoother driving surface for motorists.
Work commenced in June, and was undertaken in stages including reconstruction of the road pavement, realignment of kerb and gutter and stormwater pipe installation over a 300 metre section between Dennes and Primrose Streets.
The overall road width was reduced, the existing gutter bridges removed and new kerb and guttering installed, improving safety for pedestrians and for vehicles entering and exiting properties.
The works also allowed for a widening of nature strips along both sides of the street, with a new footpath along the southern side of the street and landscaping.
Works were completed yesterday with line marking.
Funded by the NSW Government in association with Council as part of the $100M Road Upgrade package, this project complements works recently completed on two sections of Primrose Street and at McCullagh Lane carpark.
Works continue on Farquhar Street, with drainage works completed prior to the new roundabout construction at the intersection of Farquhar and Primrose Streets.
Other works planned as part of the $100M Road Upgrade package will include roadworks associated with the Wingham CBD masterplan such as the Isabella Street beautification and the Farquhar / Bent Streets intersection improvements.
