Winter Left With Splinters Sitting On Fence

Tasmanian Government

Tasmanian Labor are once again trying to walk both sides of the street.

After months of claiming the Labor Party is now pro-development and pro-jobs, the Opposition went weak at the knees and failed to publicly back the Government's pro-development, pro-jobs Development Assessment Panels Bill.

The Opposition's mantra is in tatters following their recent opposition to Kangaroo Bay Hotel and now the opportunity to repurpose the Treasury Building – both projects that would stimulate investment, create jobs, and drive economic activity.

Behind closed doors, Labor is saying they are supportive of the legislation but have yet to declare their position on it.

What are they waiting for?

If Mr Winter is serious about enabling economic growth in Tasmania, he should declare Labor's support for the Bill today.

If he doesn't, it's clear that it's the same old Labor.
