The Geographical Names Board (GNB) is seeking community feedback on a proposal by Wollondilly Shire Council to name a reserve in the suburb of Menangle as Rotolactor Park.
The proposed reserve and adjoining land were the location of a once famous dairy farm on the Camden Park Estate which featured an Australian-first cow milking machine called a Rotolactor. The Menangle Rotolactor was introduced into the Camden Park in 1952 and was the second of its kind in the world and became a national tourist attraction.
The reserve is located at 31 Rotolactor Parade, Menangle, Wollondilly Local Government Area.
The GNB encourages community comment before it considers the proposal and gauge community sentiment for the proposed name.
Suggestions for alternative names is not being sought at this time. Details of the proposal can be viewed and submissions lodged on the Geographical Names Board's website.
Alternatively, written submissions may be mailed to the Secretary, Geographical Names Board, 346 Panorama Ave, Bathurst, NSW 2795.
The closing date for submissions is 9 July 2023.
