A woman has been charged after a man died and four people were seriously injured in a head-on collision in the state’s north-west last week, NSW Police say.
The crash happened about 6.45pm on Monday 2 April 2018, on the Kamilaroi Highway, Boggabri, when a northbound Honda Civic and a southbound Toyota Camry collided.
An 18-year-old man, who was a back-seat passenger in the Civic, suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
The driver, an 18-year-old woman, and two other passengers, a woman also aged 18 and a man aged 19, were seriously injured.
The driver and only occupant of the Camry, a 48-year-old woman from Karangi, also sustained serious injuries.
All were taken to Tamworth Base Hospital by helicopter and road ambulance.
Following her release from hospital, the 48-year-old woman was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm (x2), negligent driving cause death, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and cause bodily harm by misconduct in charge of motor vehicle (x2).
She is due to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday 21 May 2018.
