Woman Charged in Newcastle Aggravated Robbery

A woman will face court today charged following an investigation into an alleged aggravated robbery in Newcastle at the weekend.

About 1am on Saturday 1 February 2025, police were called to a carpark on Steel Street, Newcastle West, following reports of a robbery.

At the scene, police were told that two women – both aged 21 – were walking past a group of people when a woman approached them.

The woman allegedly demanded cash and threatened to stab one of the 21-year-old women before leaving the scene with the woman's handbag.

Detectives attached to Newcastle City Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the incident.

Following extensive inquiries, a 19-year-old woman was arrested at Newcastle Police Station about 1.20pm yesterday (Monday 3 February 2025).

She was charged with aggravated robbery and refused bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court today (Tuesday 4 February 2025).
