Woman Charged in Sanctuary Point Shooting

A woman will appear in court after being charged following an investigation into an alleged public place shooting in the state's south last October.

About 7:20am on Friday 18October 2024, police were called to an address in Links Avenue, Sanctuary Point, following a report a bullet hole was allegedly found in a window.

On arrival, officers attached to the South Coast Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Dotson into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, on Tuesday 29 October 2024, police with the assistance of the Southern Region Enforcement Squad, attended a home on Maclean Street, Nowra, and arrested a 25-year-old man who was taken to Nowra Police Station.

He was charged with fire firearm at dwelling-house with disregard for safety, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, acquire firearm - subject to prohibition order; use unauthorised prohibited firearm, damage property by fire/explosive, supply prohibited drug and drive whilst disqualified.

He remains before the Court on those charges.

Following further inquiries, about 2.30pm yesterday (Thursday 27 February 2025), detectives from Strike Force Dotson arrested a 45-year-old woman at a house in Nowra.

She was taken to Nowra Police Station where she was charged with being an accessory before the fact – fire firearm at dwelling-house with disregard for safety and granted conditional bail to appear at Nowra Local Court on Tuesday 18 March 2025.

Inquiries under Strike Force Dotson continue.
