Police are investigating after a vehicle drove into a river in the state’s north today., NSW Police say
Just before 1.50pm today, emergency services were called to the Tweed Valley Way, Condong, 25km south west of Tweed Heads, following reports of a crash.
Initial inquiries have led police to believe a sedan had left the roadway, crashing into a river.
A female passenger suffered critical injuries and was treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to The Tweed Hospital.
The driver, a woman aged in her 30s, was also taken to The Tweed Hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Officers from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command attended the scene and an investigation into the crash is underway.
The road remains closed and traffic diversions are in place.
